Annual Skills Day refresher will be 4-hours session that meets the educational needs for 2H,4E, 5E, and Cancer Institute’s RN’s.
Refresher Skill Sessions will review skill sets and practice updates for nurses that provides chemotherapy and/or care for our hematology & oncology patients at MWHC

- Apply evidence-based clinic practice guidelines, protocols, and procedures for: Hazardous Drug Spill Cleanup, Donning and Doffing of PEE, and infusion set-up, and initiating hypersensitivity protocol
- Apply evidence-based clinic practice guidelines, symptom management tools, standards, and protocols in patient assessment and care for the oncology patient population
- Demonstrate a knowledge of interventions associated with clinical procedures related to cancer diagnosis
- Demonstrate evidence-based care and the maintenance of access devices used in the oncology population
- Establish learning and performance goals for personal and professional development as an oncology nurse
- Identify and manages oncologic emergencies according to evidence-based practice
- Integrate patient-centered care into the nursing process across the continuum of disease
- Understand the treatment modalities used in cancer care
