About this Course:
Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), or Bedside Ultrasound, gives physicians the ability to improve critical decision making and diagnostic testing with greater efficiency leading to better patient outcomes.
This 3-day blended learning course includes didactic lectures, hands-on sessions, and pathologic image interpretation with cases using live models and ultrasound simulators. Topics will include cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, urinary, and vascular sonography.

- Demonstrate acquisition of normal anatomical views of major organs/structures utilizing ultrasound technology and standardized patients.
- Demonstrate basic principles of ultrasound including machine settings, probes, and image acquisition, quality and interpretation.
- Demonstrate clinical reasoning, interpretation and diagnosis of patient cases utilizing ultrasound technology and ultrasound simulated cases.
- Demonstrate interpretation of major organ/structure pathologies utilizing ultrasound technology and ultrasound simulator.
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team involved in the collaborative care of patients who require point-of-care ultrasound.
- Integrate a team-based approach in the care of patients who require point-of-care ultrasound.
