Description
CETT/MOST is an in situ simulation team training program which formally educates a functioning group of obstetricians, neonatologies, anesthesiologists, labor and delivery nurses, NICU nurses, and postpartum nurses in the development of emergency response interventions in order to positively affect teamwork and outcomes. This enhances the practice of emergency response protocols and team debriefings. One strength of this program is that participants learn to act only in their normal designated role. To emphasize this team concept, CETT trainers are a multidisciplinary group of individuals who represent the various specialties in WIS. This simulation training has an initial implementation with the OB program, but there are advantages and lessons learned that would benefit other departments within the hospital. 30 CETT programs take place throughout the year primarily at Washington Hospital Center. However, because of its success at WHC, the program has been extended to other MedStar hospitals including Georgetown University Hospital, Franklin Square Hospital Center, Harbor Hospital, Montgomtery General Hospital, and St. Mary's Hospital as well as non MedStar hospitals.

- Improve consistent utilization of and apply SBAR as an effective situational briefing model, to enhance effective communication.
- Incorporate assertion/critical language in every day practice, so providers can speak up reliably when they perceive risk to a patient to ensure timely escalation of care.
