This course will serve as biannual training for the role of Stroke Shepherd at MSMH. The stroke shepherd will respond to all code strokes activated on the second and third floor, inpatient units. The stroke shepherd is responsible for ensuring all timelines and best practices surrounding the standard of care, as outlined by MIEMS, are met. This member can include the ICU Charge Nurse, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing or Clinical Administrator. The role of the Stroke Shepherd is to guide and support the patient care team in the event of a code stroke.

- Calculate the correct dosing of TNK.
- Describe the role and priorities of the Stroke Shepherd.
- Discuss the care to be provided during and after TNK administration.
- Discuss the Code Stroke process.
- Explain the evidence-based practice of stroke care in relation to the code stroke process.
- Identify the inclusion & exclusion criteria for administration of TNK.
- Model appropriate documentation of care provided.
