Description
This refresher course is designed for MWHC Emergency Department RNs & ED Techs ONLY.
It is part of the annual required training for all Emergency Department Registered Nurses and Technicians in preparation for emergency and disaster situations. Scenarios discussed are radiation, environmental disasters, mass casualty and the use of the hospital emergency code system. Donning and doffing of PPE, the set-up of decontamination equipment, bio-containment procedures and hospital operations during disaster will be discussed.
**Please note: If you have a latex allergy, please notify the instructor prior to the start of the class. No late entry/registrations permitted. All participants must be registered on SiTEL to attend. This course is subject to time and attendance regulations, as are all worked shifts. - Practice the appropriate use of emergency equipment and PPE, including donning and doffing.
- Prepare for disaster and emergency scenarios by reviewing hospital policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Review procedures and techniques used in the bio-containment unit.
