Welcome to your Policy Education on Response to Restraints, AMA and Elopement, and De-escalation. This course consists of two assessment-based e-learning modules in which you will examine and discover the guidelines and best practices relating to restraints and seclusion, elopement and AMA episodes, de-escalation techniques, and use of force, as set forth by MedStar Health.

- Appropriately respond to patients wishing to refuse treatment against medical advice.
- Collaborate with security staff in responding to patient elopements and potential use of force situations.
- Follow guidelines and procedure set forth by the MedStar Health: Use of Restraints and Seclusion With Safety and Dignity when episodes requiring patient restraints occur.
- Understand the purpose of the MedStar Health policies and procedures governing response to patient restraints and seclusion, patient elopement and AMA, and de-escalation techniques and use of force
- Use de-escalation techniques in responding to patient restraint and seclusion episodes.
