About this CourseThis live course is an introductory point-of-care ultrasound course for the Maryland Academy of Family Physicians (MDAFP). This 2-day course covers the Cardiac and Pulmonary portion and is related to course Cs-038298, which is the MDAFP GI, Urinary, and Vascular 2-day course. This blended learning course includes didactic lectures, hands-on sessions, and pathologic image interpretation with cases using ultrasound machines and simulators.
In support of improving patient care, MedStar Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. - Demonstrate acquisition of normal anatomical views of major organs/structures utilizing ultrasound technology and standardized patients.
- Demonstrate basic principles of ultrasound including machine settings, probes, and image acquisition, quality and interpretation.
- Demonstrate clinical reasoning, interpretation and diagnosis of patient cases utilizing ultrasound technology and ultrasound simulated cases.
- Demonstrate interpretation of major organ/structure pathologies utilizing ultrasound technology and ultrasound simulator.
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team involved in the collaborative care of patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions.
- Integrate a team-based approach in the care of patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions.
