Description
This course offers 6.75 Continuing Professional Education credits to Nurses and Physicians. To claim the credits, the course must be completed prior to April 25, 2025. Once your evaluation is complete, log on to CloudCME® from your left SiTEL menu, and toggle to your Transcript to find the credits.
Accreditation: In support of improving patient care, MedStar Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Credit Designation: This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 6.75 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.
About this Course: This event includes didactic content and live simulation. Learners will refresh IABP content and perform hands-on training. Learners will participate in for (4) high fidelity simulations in which they will care for acute, critically ill patients in a hospital and transport environment. Learners will assess patients, determine a treatment plan, and manage patients while applying MedSTAR Transport critical care protocols. Learners will perform invasive airway skills on mannequins.

- Discuss and demonstrate competency in operating and troubleshooting all MedSTAR Transport equipment reviewed during Skills Day.
- Practice and perform patient intubation on all age groups within the program's and industry's standards and expectations.
- Recognize patient condition deterioration and understand appropriate interventions using protocols and medical direction.
