About this course: This simulation course is for Providers and Nurses caring for patients post open heart surgery. The simulation includes scenarios related to Code Blue Response to an Open Heart Surgery Patient. Emphasis is on the team, communication, roles, equipment and algorithm to follow when there is an emergent need to re-open a patients chest post cardiac surgery.

- Cite the differences between ACLS and Code Yellow Cardiac.
- Name the different algorithms that make up Code Yellow Cardiac.
- Recognize and perform the necessary procedures that may be involved in Code Yellow Cardiac- epicardial pacing, defibrillation, emergency bedside resternotomy.
- Practice closed loop communication, teamwork.
- Define the different code roles, discuss the importance of role designation and staying in defined role.
- Demonstrate management of a post cardiac surgery patient in cardiac arrest.
