Description
HeartCode PALS completes the American Heart Association’s HeartCode portfolio, offering healthcare providers a self-directed learning option that delivers training needed to recognize and prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children. HeartCode PALS Part 1 includes Twelve interactive, realistic pediatric patient scenarios, pre-course self-assessment, team dynamics lesson, and full texts of AHA’s PALS Provider Manual, PALS Core Drugs, and the 2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR & ECC – plus supplementary AHA PALS material and videos available within the program.
PALS certification or recertification in three easy steps: Step 1 complete the Part 1 cognitive portion of the program including patient scenarios and multiple-choice exam Step 2 complete skills practice and a skills test with an AHA PALS Instructor Step 3 Receive an official AHA PALS Provider course completion card HeartCode PALS offers an alternative to the traditional course and is the only PALS eLearning course that provides AHA PALS certification!
•Increase flexibility in your course offerings •Reduce the costs associated with training •Engaging interactivity allows learners to virtually “treat” pediatric patients •Available 24/7, allowing students the opportunity to learn on their own time, at their own pace, with instant feedback and debriefing •Proprietary eSimulation technology allows physiological modeling that reflects students’ treatment decisions •HeartCode PALS is a continuing education activity
The American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support course is based on scientific evidence from the 2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC. The goal of the PALS Course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. Skills taught include recognizing and treating infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment; effective respiratory management; defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion; intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.
This PALS course is based almost completely on simulated clinical scenarios that require active, hands-on participation throughout the day. Participants will participate in simulated cases using a human patient simulator to practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as a team leader. This course is taught following the guidelines determined by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Prerequisites: Current BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification, Ability to identify cardiac rhythms, a basic understanding of the medications used to treat pulseless arrest, bradycardia & tachycardia. Intended Audience: This course is designed for medical providers such as physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other professionals who may be required to manage a pediatric emergency.
The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. The use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the Association.
