Objectives

  • Basic troubleshooting
  • Be able to identify the components of test cartridge/cuvette
  • Be able to identify the external components of the Gem Hemochron 100
  • Be knowledgeable of specimen requirements
  • Distinguish the two types of quality control and when each is performed
  • Following completion of this education, the Learner will:
  • Have a basic understanding of clot-based coagulation testing and the relationship between activated clotting time (ACT) and Unfractionated Heparin (UFH)
  • Know how to perform quality control and run patient samples
  • Know how to review results and interpret the ranges

  • Understand the storage and stability requirements for quality control and the cuvettes used for testing
