This module concentrates on the professional role of the home health nurse. A professional is someone who completes the required education and training to perform a job or career adequately (Brown, 2020). The professional takes responsibility and ownership of remaining engaged in the ongoing development of the profession, staying abreast of changes, participating in ongoing education, and performing safe practices. Many newly graduated nurses take a pledge upon graduation to service humanity, endeavor to practice safely, honor traditions, put patients' total health first, practice ethical care without bias or prejudice, and maintain respect for caregivers and patients. They pledge to do all of this without causing harm. For this module, the profession is that of a nurse practicing in the specific setting of a home.
