Description
This course is part of the MedStar Health SiTEL Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Introductory Course. This 2-day course covers the GI, Urinary, and Vascular portion and is related to course Cs-031417, which is the Cardiac and Pulmonary 2-day course.
This blended learning course includes didactic lectures, hands-on sessions, and pathologic image interpretation with cases using ultrasound machines and simulators.
$375 Base Price (A pre-arranged discount might be available based upon your organizational affiliation.) $50 charge for unenrollment within 5 days (120 hours) of course start time.
In support of improving patient care, MedStar Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 11.0 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.

- Demonstrate basic principles of ultrasound including machine settings, probes, and image acquisition, quality and interpretation.
- Demonstrate acquisition of normal anatomical views of major organs/structures utilizing ultrasound technology and standardized patients.
- Demonstrate interpretation of major organ/structure pathologies utilizing ultrasound technology and ultrasound simulator.
- Demonstrate clinical reasoning, interpretation and diagnosis of patient cases utilizing ultrasound technology and ultrasound simulated cases.
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team involved in the collaborative care of medical and surgical patients.
- Integrate a team-based approach in the care of medical and surgical patients.
