Objectives
- At the completion of the course the learner will be able to:
- Describe the role of regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies in Food and Nutrition Services and Patient Safety.
- Discuss how the Food and Nutrition Services department provides a consistent product and excellent customer service.
- Discuss MedStar’s HRO (High Reliability Organization) principles and how they are applied to the Food and Nutrition Service department to impact the services we provide to patients and customers.
- Discuss the importance of infection control in the hospital setting.
- Discuss the importance of learning and practicing soft skills; including communication, conflict resolution and time management.
- Discuss the role of Food and Nutrition Services in the patient’s hospitalization (healing) process.
- Discuss where to find SDS (Safety Data Sheet) information on chemicals used in Food and Nutrition Services.
- Discuss workplace safety hazards and how to decrease the risk of injury.
- Identify Therapeutic diet
