The pleural drainage system is a home management system used to drain pleural fluid from the pleural cavity. More and more patients are being sent home with indwelling pleural catheters (IPC) to self-manage their pleural effusion. Patients and/or caregivers can learn how to use it and become independent with the management of draining their pleural fluid.
