This course offers 0.50 Continuing Professional Education credits for physicians and nurses. This course meets the DC Key Public Health Priority for Smoking, vaping, and tobacco. To claim the credits, the course must be completed prior to Termination 10/2/2025 . This course will go through the eligibility criteria required to accurately order and bill for a low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) scan for a lung cancer screening (LCS). Additionally, this course will also highlight elements of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) compliance guidelines required for conducting and documenting the shared decision-making (SDM) visit and tobacco cessation/abstinence.

- Define the scope of lung cancer in the United States and the indications for lung cancer screening.
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team involved in the collaborative care of lung cancer patients
- Identify tobacco cessation (TC) resources within and outside of MedStar Health.
- Integrate a team-based approach in the care of lung cancer patients
- Locate the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) eligibility criteria to accurately order and bill for a low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) scan for LCS.
