About this Course: The Perinatal Refresher Class is a clinical and didactic refresher course for new-to-specialty L&D and Mother/Baby nurses. All L&D and Mother/Baby nurses can take the class, but the class targets nurses within the first 6- to 12-months of independent practice.

Objectives
- Using NICHD terminology, analyze and interpret fetal heart rate patterns, uterine activity, and intrauterine resuscitation techniques in the context of factors affecting maternal and fetal status
- Describe drug classes, and appropriate routes and safe administration of high-risk medications used in the perinatal setting
- Identify well babies at risk for complications, such as late preterm, sepsis, hypoglycemia, and jaundice, and verbalize appropriate management and interventions
- Identify risk factors, interventions, and evidence-based management of obstetrical hemorrhage
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team involved in the collaborative care of patients with complex care management needs
- Integrate a team-based approach in the care of patients with complex care management needs
